The Delegation of the State Audit Office of Viet Nam paid an official working visit to the Office of the Auditor General of Canada

The delegation of the State Audit Office of Viet Nam (SAV) led by Deputy Auditor General Vu Van Hoa paid a working visit the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) of Canada and Vietnameses Embassy in Canada.

During the courtesy meeting, the Auditor General H.E. Ms. Karen Hogan congratulated the achievements of the SAV through 28 years of establishment and development, as well as introduced an overview of the functions, tasks, organizational structure and some outstanding audit results of the OAG of Canada in recent years.
 
Representatives of functional departments of OAG of Canada shared their experiences on audit topics such as: Gender equality, sustainable development, environment and performance audit. In this regard, OAG of Canada expressed its willingness to coordinate with the Canadian Auditing and Accountability Foundation (CAAF) to share audit documents and guidelines with SAV.
  
Giving thanks to the respectful reception of OAG of Canada in general and the Auditor General of Canada Karen Hogan in particular for the delegation, Deputy Auditor General Vu Van Hoa emphasized the importance of promoting cooperative relationships between the two Offices. SAV would like to exchange delegations at high-level and working-level to discuss audit topics that both Offices have experiences and interests in, namely performance audit, auditing in the information technology environment, computer-assisted audit techniques; invite representatives to participate in international conferences, seminars and training activities organized by each Office; exchange documents and manuals on audit areas of mutual interest.
 
The delegation also visited the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) of Ontario for experiential learning. According to the Auditor General of the OAG of Ontario H.E. Ms. Bonnie Lysyk, OAG of Ontario is an independent, non-partisan office belonging to the Legislative Council that serves members of the Parliament and the citizen of Ontario, which is set forth in the Auditor General Act of Ontario. The office's mandate is regulated by the Auditor General Act, the Sustainable Finances, Transparency and Accountability Act 2019, the 1993 Environmental Bill of Rights and the Ontario Government's Advertising Act 2004.

OAG of Ontario as well as the Offices of the Auditor General of other provinces operate completely independently and do not report to OAG of Canada. The office has about 145 staff, many of whom are professional accountants and the remaining hold graduate and postgraduate degrees relating to the environmental field.
 
At the meeting, the Deputy Auditor General of OAG of Ontario, Ms. Kristy May and experts shared with SAV experience in performance audit and environmental audit through a number of audit assignments conducted in Ontario.
 
On this occasion, Deputy Auditor General Vu Van Hoa expressed that the two Offices continue to strengthen cooperation within the framework of International Governance, Accountability and Performance Program (IGAP) led by CAAF. OAG of Ontario would provide technical support for providing experts, documents, etc. and support internships from SAV’s auditors who participate in the 9-month scholarship on performance audit in Canada.
 
During the stay in Canada, the delegation also visited the Embassy of Viet Nam in Canada. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary H.E. Mr. Pham Cao Phong and officials of the Embassy warmly received the delegation and informed them about the development in the relationship between Viet Nam and Canada.

Deputy Auditor General Vu Van Hoa conveyed his thankful words for the kind gesture of Ambassador Pham Cao Phong and informed the results of the delegation's business trip. Mr. Hoa wished the Ambassador and officials health, success in fulfilling their tasks and support SAV in promoting its relationship with OAG of Canada to a new height./.
