On September 15, 2022, the delegation of the State Audit Office of Viet Nam (SAV) led by Deputy Auditor General Vu Van Hoa paid a working visit to the Canadian Audit and Accountability Foundation (CAAF), the Office of the Auditor General of Canada and the Office of the Auditor General of Ontario. The mission lies within the framework of cooperation between the SAV and the CAAF in order to share experiences and improve the capacity of SAV in performance auditing.
With the legal status as an agency established by the National Assembly that exclusively inspects public finance and public assets, the State Audit office of Viet Nam (SAV) is one of the agencies that have direct responsibility for detecting and implementing coordinated approaches to handle corruption, and effectively manage public finance and public assets. In order to enhance the preemptive actions against corruption, wastefulness and negativity within audit activities as well as SAV's own internal affairs, SAV’s departments are alleged to execute solutions with regard to fundamental factors, namely such as legal frameworks and human resources.
According to the orientation of developing the Audit Plan for 2023 and for medium-term 2023-2025, budget audit continues to be a priority of the State Audit Office of Viet Nam (SAV). The key orientations and notes when performing this type of audit will bring important information, helping audit units and auditors to have an insight to apply in practice, thereby improving audit quality and efficiency.
On the afternoon of September 7, 2022, at the National Assembly House, Politburo member, National Assembly Chairman, H.E. Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue received the alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the State Audit Office of Laos People's Democratic Republic, Mr. Viengthavisone Thephachanh on his official visit to Viet Nam. Attending the meeting were the Member of the Central Party Committee, Auditor General of the State Audit Office of Viet Nam (SAV), Mr. Ngo Van Tuan and leaders of the Office of the National Assembly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the State Audit Office of Viet Nam
Boosting the prevention and fight against corruption in audit activities, strengthening discipline in public service duties of civil servants, public employees and employees of the State Audit Office of Viet Nam (SAV), improving audit quality and the quality, efficiency of direction, administration and performance of the assigned tasks of SAV's subordinate units are among the purposes identified in the Program on inspection, examination and supervision of the prevention and fight against corruption in the performance of public service duties which has recently been signed for promulgation by Member of the Central Committee Party, Deputy State Auditor General in charge of SAV, Mr. Ngo Van Tuan.
Currently, corruption is considered a "national problem" by the Party and State. Anti-corruption is the task of the Party, the people and the political system as a whole. Established by the National Assembly, being an independent operation, abiding only by the law, with the legal status of an inspection agency on public finances and public assets, the State Audit Office of Viet Nam (SAV) is responsible for corruption detecting and handling as well as preventing losses and wastefulness in the management and usage of public finances and assets.
In the afternoon of October 21, 2022, following the 4th session of the 15th National Assembly, the National Assembly elected Mr. Ngo Van Tuan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Personnel Committee and Secretary, Party Committee, Deputy State Auditor General in charge of State Audit of Viet Nam (SAV) to hold the position of State Auditor General for the term 2021-2026 with the approval rate of 92.17%.
