The State Audit Office of Viet Nam Delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia

From the 26th to the 29th September 2022, a delegation of the State Audit Office of Viet Nam (SAV) led by Deputy Auditor General Doan Anh Tho visited the Audit Board of Republic of Indonesia (BPK). This is an activity under the Memorendum of Understanding signed between the two agencies.

On the 27th of September morning, the BPK Chairperson Isma Yatun hosted a courtesy meeting with the SAV delegation at the head office of BPK. The Chairperson briefly introduced the organizational structure and operation of BPK. It is also noted that BPK initiated the establishment of SAI 20, an engagement group of the world’s 20  major developed and emerging economies G20. 
BPK successfully organized the SAI 20 Summit on August 29-30, 2022 in Bali within the framework of the G20 Indonesia Presidency in 2022.
  
The Chairperson also shared BPK’s experiences in environmental audit, audit of COVID-19 response and national economic recovery program since 2020 and the role of BPK in anti-corruption.
 
“The BPK leadership supports the SAV’s proposals, and at the same time asks for the latter’s support as to the BPK hosting the INCOSAI Congress in 2028,” said Ms. Isma Yatun.
 
Deputy Auditor General Doan Anh Tho extended sincere thanks to BPK and its Chairperson for the warm welcome to SAV delegation.
 
Deputy Auditor General Doan Anh Tho advised the Chairperson of the political, economic and social situation in Viet Nam and outstanding achievements of Viet Nam in socio-economic development and COVID-19 pandemic recovery. Notably, under the drastic direction of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, the prevention and fight against corruption and fraud continues to be boosted in a drastic, synchronous and expeditious manner with significant progress which strongly affirms our resolute determination in fighting against corruption in accordance to the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress.
 
Deputy Auditor General Doan Anh Tho further stated, on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in November 2017, that the two agencies continue promoting bilateral cooperation activities such as increasing workshop and seminar co-organization, mutual knowledge sharing and exchange on subject matters of mutual interest, namely: environmental audit, information technology audit and anti-corruption audit…; that SAV would send auditors to BPK under a secondment program to learn the practical experience of BPK.
 
Mr. Doan Anh Tho also took this opportunity to kindly ask for the BPK’s support to SAV’s application for the position of ASOSAI Audit Committee member for the 2024-2027 tenure. The two sides shall continue supporting each other in multilateral forums, especially within the framework of ASOSAI and the Southeast Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASEANSAI).

On the same day, Deputy Auditor General Doan Anh Tho co-chaired the 2022 Joint Workshop between SAV and BPK in Jakarta, Indonesia on "Auditing the response to the Covid 19 pandemic" and "The role of Supreme Audit Institutions in anti-corruption".
 
At the workshop, speakers from both SAV and BPK shared experiences on auditing the response to the Covid-19 pandemic as well as the role of SAIs in anti-corruption. These insights shall be further studied and flexibly applied to both SAIs’ activities for greater audit innovation and efficiency.
 
In his closing remarks, Deputy Auditor General Doan Anh Tho highly appreciated the knowledge and experience shared at the workshop. The two sides are expected to jointly organize various seminars and workshops in the coming time to share experiences on topics and areas of mutual interest. The topic and time of the 2023 joint workshop to be held in Viet Nam should be soon identified. In addition, the two agencies shall continue sharing information and supporting each other within multilateral forums.

During the time of the visit, the delegation also visited the Embassy of Viet Nam in Indonesia. Mr. Ta Van Thong - the Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Viet Nam to Indonesia and key staff of the Embassy cordially received the delegation./.
