The State Audit Office of Vietnam and Association of Charterd Certified Accountants to strengthen cooperation for capability development

On the morning of August 22, 2022, at the head office of the State Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV) – 116 Nguyen Chanh, Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Ba Dzung - Director General of International Cooperation Department (ICD) of SAV had a courtesy meeting with Mr. Ren Varma - the Portfolio Head of Mainland Southeast Asia of Association of Charterd Certified Accountants (ACCA) and other delegates from ACCA

From the SAV side, the meeting was also attended by the Deputy Director General of the Department of Organization and Personnel, Deputy Director General of the Audit Training Institute, Deputy Director General and officials of ICD.
 
In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Nguyen Ba Dzung, Director General of ICD congratulated ACCA on its growth with nearly 120 years of development history and believed that the rich history and experience shall continue to make great contributions to the development of the accounting and auditing profession in Vietnam.
 
At the meeting, "Over time, the SAV and ACCA have implemented many practical benefit cooperation activities, contributing to the strengthening of professional capability and the promotion of the images of the two agencies to international colleagues. The two parties have arranged many visits of high-level leaders; organized training courses and seminars on environmental audit, tax audit, public investment effeciency audit; ACCA supports SAV staff in the ACCA Qualification training program. There are 09 SAV officials who completed ACCA qualifications and another 04 are in progress, said Mr. Dung

To enhance the cooperation of the two organizations in the coming time, ACCA is proposed to support the implementation of SAV human resource development goals stated in the Development Strategy to 2030, in which, various activities shall be further strengthened, namely: to organize joint seminars, conferences and workshops to share experiences on topics of mutual interest; to invite the SAV officials to activities, conferences, seminars and training programs organized by ACCA on new audit areas such as environmental audit, public debt audit, information technology audit, performance audit...

In addition, the SAV expects to continuously receive ACCA support in knowledge sharing, teaching materials, professional articles and auditing software. Also, the support is extended in strengthening its capability in international financial funds audit, so that SAV could be ready for the application for the position of ASOSAI Audit Committee member for 2024-2027 tenure through a number of activities such as to develop audit guidelines and manuals; study tour in the UK or to invite ACCA experts to delivery courses in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Mr. Ren Varma - the Portfolio Head of Mainland Southeast Asia of ACCA congratulated the SAV on the recent successes and wished to promote bilateral cooperation through activities where ACCA has extensive experience. According to Mr. Ren Varma,  a number of initiatives are being undertaken to improve the learning outcomes of SAV students participating in ACCA's training programs. “We have many research activities with in-depth professional reports that can support the SAV in capacity building training, especially training on international standards” said Mr. Ren Varma. ACCA is pleased to share experiences in the areas of SAV interest, such as environmental audit, information technology audit, etc.

Mr. Ren Varma affirms the cooperation relationship between SAV and ACCA in order to further facilitate the activities of the two parties for the growth of Vietnam. On the basis of the proposals made by SAV, ACCA will soon develop a plan with specific activities to implement in the coming time./.
